چکیده

The ozidative decarboxylation of acetoacetate to pyruvaldehyde is catalyzed by sheep heart extracts in the presence of O2 and Mn*+. The product was identified by spectral and chromatographic methods. From fractionation and inhibitor characteristics and the similarity of the catalytic activity to that of commercial myoglobin, it is concluded that the catalyst for the conversion in sheep heart extracts is myoglobin. A free radical mechanism which would account for the characteristics and requirements of the reaction is presented.

A colorimetric method for the estimation of acetoacetate.

The coupling of aromatic diazo compounds with compounds containing a reactive methylene group to form 'mixed' azo compounds (tautomeric with hydrazones) was recognized as a general reaction following Meyer's (1877) synthesis of phenylazoacetoacetic ester from benzenediazohydroxide and ethyl acetoacetate. Japp & Klingemann (1888) found that when equimolar amounts of acetoacetic acid and benzened...

Preparation of [64Cu] Pyruvaldehyde-bis (N4-methylthiosemicarbazone) complex as a PET and/or therapeutic radiopharmaceutical

Background: Copper-64 (T1/2=12.7 h) is an important radionuclide used both in PET imaging and therapy. [64Cu]-pyruvaldehyde-bis (N4-methylthiosemicarbazone) ([64Cu]-PTSM) is one of the most famous copper radiopharmaceuticals with unique specifications (suitable half life, stability, etc.). The wide range of 64Cu applications arouse great interest for its production. Materials and Methods: Cu-64...

Acetoacetate Formation in Liver

In 1944, Weinhouse et al. (1) reported that the incubation of carboxyllabeled octanoate with rat liver slices yielded acetoacetate in which the carboxyl and carbonyl carbons were equally labeled. Random condensation of 2-carbon units resulting from ,8 oxidation was therefore offered by these workers as a possible mechanism for the formation of acetoacetic acid from octanoate. The conversion of ...

Recovery of Methyl Acetoacetate from Antibiotic Production Plant\'s Waste Streams (TECHNICAL NOTE)

Chemical recovery of methyl acetoacetate from the amoxicillin plant’s waste stream was investigated. In process of amoxicillin production for activation of amoxicillin molecule, hydrolysis takes place at final stage. As a result methyl acetoacetate is formed. Liquid-liquid extraction was employed for the recovery of methyl acetoacetate from the waste stream. Diluted alkaline solution was used a...

Fatty acid metabolism; conversion of acetoacetate to citrate in animal tissues, studied with isotopic carbon.

In Paper V of this series (1) it was found that the citrate which accumulates during the oxidation of W-tagged acetoacetate by rat kidney in the presence of oxalacetate had a high content of isotopic carbon, thus confirming the participation of tricarboxylic acids in the oxidation of fatty acid intermediates. The present study represents a continuation of the investigation of this reaction with...
